capital asset planning

To many companies the difference between A) leasing or B) buying technology is the difference between A) an accelerated pretax expense or B) a taxable gain over salvage wholesale.  Most companies used to balance these accelerated expenses against future risks to information security.  Today, depending upon cash flow, current interest rates and need for security, many companies may prefer to B) buy rather than A) lease computing technology as the price of computing equipment has fallen forty-five percent (45%) since 1998 according to the Consumer Price Index!  Leasing computing equipment may no longer be the best choice for 3 to 5 year depreciation classes.  If your capital asset planning model favors buying computing technology - consider planned philanthropy.
